The birds don't sing here,
Trees don't grow.
And only we are shoulder to shoulder
We're growing into the ground here.
The planet is burning and spinning,
There is smoke over our Motherland.

One for everyone.
We will not stand behind the price!

Chorus:
A deadly fire awaits us,
And yet he is powerless.
Doubts away:
Goes off into the night
Separate
Our tenth
Airborne battalion.

As soon as the battle died down,
Another order sounds.
And the postman will go crazy
Looking for us.
A red rocket takes off
The machine gun hits, tirelessly.
And that means we need one victory,
One for everyone.
We will not stand behind the price!

From Kursk and Orel
The war has brought us
To the very enemy gates, -
That's how things are, brother...
Someday we will remember this
And I won’t believe it myself.
And now we need one victory,
One for everyone.
We will not stand behind the price!

Translation

Here birds do not sing,
Trees don't grow.
And only we to shoulder
Grow in the ground here.
The planet is burning and spinning,
Over our Motherland - smoke.
One for all.
A price worth paying!

Chorus:
We are waiting for the deadly fire,
And yet he is powerless.
Doubt away:
Out in the night
Separate
Ten of ours
Commando battalion.

Only the battle died away,
Sounds like another order.
And the postman will go mad,
Searching for us.
Red rocket takes off
Has a machine gun, tireless.
And, that means we need one victory,
One for all.
A price worth paying!

From Kursk and the eagle
The war brought us
To the enemy gate, -
Such, brother, business...
Someday we will remember this,
And not powerisa themselves.
But now we need one victory,
One for all.
A price worth paying!

Yesterday I again listened to Bulat Okudzhava’s song from the film “Belorussky Station”.
Again, because recent years I often listen to this song. It not only takes me into memories of the war, “about battles - conflagrations, about fighters - comrades,” but also makes me think about our present and future. Seven decades after that Victory, which cost our people a terrible price.

One for all, we won’t stand behind the price.”

And I couldn’t resist citing here the entire text of this wonderful song about that bloody war.

"Here the birds don't sing, the trees don't grow,
And only we grow shoulder to shoulder into the ground here.
The planet is burning and spinning,
There is smoke over our Motherland,

A deadly fire awaits us
And yet he is powerless,

As soon as the battle dies down, another order sounds,
And the postman will go crazy looking for us.
A red rocket takes off
The machine gun hits tirelessly,
And that means we need one victory,
One for all, we won’t stand behind the price,
One for all, we won’t stand behind the price.

A deadly fire awaits us
And yet he is powerless,
Doubts away, goes into the night separately
Our tenth airborne battalion,
Our tenth airborne battalion.

The war brought us from Kursk and Orel
Right up to the enemy's gates, that's how things are, brother.
Someday we will remember this
And I won’t believe it myself,
And now we need one victory,
One for all, we won’t stand behind the price,
One for all, we won’t stand behind the price.

A deadly fire awaits us
And yet he is powerless,
Doubts away, goes into the night separately
Our tenth airborne battalion,
Our tenth airborne battalion."

In April 1942, Bulat Okudzhava sought early conscription into the army.
And although there was one month left before his eighteenth birthday, he was not accepted into the army.
Only in August of the same year, Bulat Okudzhava was drafted into the Red Army and sent to the 10th separate reserve mortar division. This is where it comes from: “Our tenth airborne battalion.”

I cannot resist reminding here that Bulat Okudzhava, the famous Soviet and Russian poet, bard, prose writer and screenwriter, composer, author of about two hundred original and pop songs written on his own poems, is one of the most prominent representatives genre of art song in the 1950s-1980s, was born in Moscow on May 9, 1924, on a day that twenty-one years later became one of the main holidays of our people, Victory Day.

All my creative life Bulat Okudzhava composed and sang songs about how the country lived. After the war, he sang about how our Victory was forged, at what cost we had to “not stand up for it.” After the 20th Congress, when the country was in a “state of shock” from the revelation to the people of the truth about “native and beloved,” Bulat Okudzhava sang:
"And the mustachioed falcon flew,
Making the whole world tremble.
He valued the people highly
Yes, I didn’t put people in a penny.”

I listened to Bulat Okudzhava’s song about how we needed victory in those terrible years and thought that even now: “The planet is burning,” and again our country is almost in the very center of that fire. It looks like this again:
"And now we need one victory,
One for all, we won’t stand behind the price...".

* * *
The planet is burning and spinning,
There's fire and smoke on it again,
Why were we dragged into this hell?
Who will get the "kalym" for this?
Which of us needs another victory?
Maybe victory over yourself?
Well, I agree with this conclusion.

I agree, we all need to work
To ensure that we live completely differently,
When they make us into a flock of sheep,
In which our life goes
According to the old law:
“Today I am the boss, you are the fool.”

Reviews

I'm reading yesterday's letter,
Our youth passed through battles.
Were we more courageous than all the heroes,
And fear was unknown to us.
M*s loved their country...

I remember how the bullets whistled
Oh* drowning out the silence...
M*s quietly wiped the tears from their eyes,
Fate called us to war.

Motherfuckers defended the country...

How many of us were killed - brave ones,
How to make up for your loss?
I'm addressing the officials who are corrupt,
Is it possible to forget about the war?
We were your protection from grief
And* knew neither fear nor pain,
Motherfuckers died for our country...

The history of the creation of the song “We need one victory” (“Our 10th Airborne Battalion”)

The idea of including the “trench” song “We need one victory” in “Belorussky Station” belonged to screenwriter Vadim Trunin. This picture tells the story of the military brotherhood of front-line soldiers. Four military friends gather at the funeral of a former fellow soldier. In the process of their communication, the readiness of friends to help each other after many years becomes clear. The climax, according to the director's idea, was to be an episode of the visit of the four main characters performed by Alexei Glazyrin, Evgeny Leonov, Anatoly Papanov and Vsevolod Safonov to the former battalion nurse. After the remembrance comrade in arms, the guests ask the hostess to sing their “battalion” song. The authors of the film decided to entrust the writing of this composition to Bulat Okudzhava.

The bard refused for a long time. “I don’t write poetry now, I work exclusively with prose. There’s a lot of work. Look for someone else” - Bulat Shalvovich met filmmakers with similar arguments for quite a long time.

The maestro was convinced only after showing him the main scenes of the film. The poet later said that he agreed because of the opportunity to write a simple trench song - “the kind that everyone at the front sang.” The task set by the filmmakers was not easy and was as follows: to weave tragedy into a meaningful epilogue. Soviet people and the courage of the Great Victory.

The entire film troupe gathered to listen to the finished song.

I must admit, I was confused,” Okudzhava later recalled. - He warned me that I don’t have a ready-made melody, only poetry. And in a voice that was uncertain and wild with emotion, he began to sing, accompanying himself on the piano...

After listening, an oppressive silence reigned. There was disappointment on the faces of the listeners. And only composer Alfred Schnittke (author of the music for the remaining episodes of “Belorussky Station”) optimistically declared: “Listen, this is very interesting,” after which he sat down at the piano and performed the song together with Okudzhava...

In the film "Belorussky Station" the song "Our 10th Airborne Battalion" sounded exactly as it was intended: without special skill, with emotions...

The birds don't sing here,

Trees don't grow

And just us, shoulder to shoulder

We're growing into the ground here.

The planet is burning and spinning,

There is smoke over our Motherland,

And that means we need one victory,

One for all - we won’t stand behind the price.

A deadly fire awaits us,

And yet he is powerless.

Doubts away, goes away into the night separately,

Our tenth airborne battalion.

As soon as the battle died down,

Another order sounds

And the postman will go crazy

Looking for us.

A red rocket takes off

The machine gun hits tirelessly,

And that means we need one victory,

One for all - we won’t stand behind the price.

One for all - we won’t stand behind the price.

Right up to the enemy gates.
