The largest wildlife festival “GOLDEN TURTLE” will be held for the 12th time on November 4-18, 2018 in Moscow at the Central House of Artists and from November 30 to January 13, 2019 in St. Petersburg in the “Etazhi” space.

"GOLDEN TURTLE" is an international interactive wildlife festival that brings together the best creative works world-class photographers, artists and designers about the beauty and harmony of the surrounding world.

The key event of the festival will be a large interactive exhibition of the works of finalists and laureates of the international photo competition The Golden Turtle 2018. This year the competition attracted a record number of participants: more than 1,800 authors from 110 countries sent their works. Over 12 years, more than 11,000 authors from 120 countries took part in it, sending more than 100,000 works to the competition. The Golden Turtle photo competition is one of the three most prestigious in the world.

“GOLDEN TURTLE” is not only a unique cultural event, but also has a serious social component and is a landmark environmental event. The festival is an official event of the United Nations Decade for Biodiversity. As part of the festival 2018 years will pass Eco-lecture hall, premiere film screenings documentaries famous photographers, travelers, and festival ambassadors will speak about wildlife and ecology.

This year, the special guest of the festival program will be a famous photographer from the Netherlands, a member of the competition jury Jan Vermeer. At the festival he will present an exhibition of his works.

At the festival, I was interested in the exhibition of the winners of the Golden Turtle 2017 photo competition. There are noticeably fewer photographs at the exhibition than, for example, at the “Primordial Russia” festival, but their level, in my opinion, is much higher, although I visit “Primordial Russia” with pleasure everyone year.

Two things can become obstacles on your way to obtaining aesthetic pleasure:

  1. Lack of clear instructions on how to get to the exhibition both on the official website of the festival and on the Expocenter website;
  2. Lack of parking for private cars on the exhibition complex grounds.

I hope the information provided in this article will help you prepare for your hike in advance so that you do not encounter these obstacles.

How to get to the exhibition

By car

The nearest city paid parking lots are located on Presnenskaya Embankment, 1st Krasnogvardeysky Proezd and st. Antonova-Ovseenko. On all these streets, parking costs 200 ₽/hour, free on Sundays and holidays.

Information about parking for the Afimall City shopping mall.

If you want to take a walk (walk 1 km), you can also use the parking lot of the World Trade Center (Krasnopresnenskaya embankment, 12). On Sundays and holidays The cost of parking there is 100 ₽/hour, on other days: the first two hours are 200 ₽, then 100 ₽/hour.

By metro

The nearest metro station is Vystavochnaya Filevskaya line (blue). After exiting the metro, you can enter the Expo Center from Vystavochny Lane.

If you are coming from the center along Krasnopresnenskaya embankment, you can use the entrances through checkpoint 21 and checkpoint 1A. The location of the checkpoint and buildings on the territory of the complex is also on the diagram posted on the official website of the Expocenter.

Having entered the territory, you go around on the left the building of the temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov. Opposite the entrance to the church is the entrance to the 7th pavilion, where the festival takes place. Below on the map I have marked where the entrance is and how to get there; green mark - World Trade Center parking lot:

To the right of the entrance to Pavilion 7 there is a ticket office where you can purchase a ticket if you have not done so online in advance.

Purchasing tickets online

Tickets can be purchased either from a desktop computer or from a smartphone/tablet, for which the official festival app is also available (Golden Turtle Fest on Appstore and Google Play).

The application is buggy. For example, I could not log in through my VKontakte account and used my Facebook account.

Inside there is basic information about the festival, a program of events, and a map of the halls.

By clicking on the “Buy ticket” button in the main menu of the application, you will receive promotional code, giving a 10% discount. The promotional code can be used when purchasing tickets both from a smartphone (the link will open in the browser; the program does not have its own functionality for making payments) or from a desktop computer. You must enter it before or after selecting the number of tickets, but before you click the “Next” button (in the mobile version) or the green “Buy ticket” button (in the desktop browser).

Choose your ticket carefully because in some cases you can save money. For example, there are single tickets for families with children, which are cheaper than buying separately for adults and children. By indicating the right ticket, you will receive a “surprise” from the organizers in the form of a service fee, which, albeit slightly, will increase the cost of tickets. Unpleasant, but true.

Everything else is standard. Click “Next” or “Buy a ticket”, indicate your bank card details, email address and phone number, “Next” or “Buy a ticket” again, and receive it at the specified email a letter from the Tickets Cloud booking system with an attached pdf file of the ticket. The following phrase may confuse you in the letter: “The attached file contains an electronic ticket. Print it out and show it at the entrance". But, fortunately, it turned out that you can do without this archaism (what kind of electronic ticket is linked to a printer?): the ticket has a QR code, which inspectors scan from the screen of your smartphone with a special portable terminal. For comparison, in January of this year, in order to get to the “Primordial Russia” exhibition at the Central House of Artists, I had to print a ticket on the administrator’s work computer, since the turnstiles at the entrance did not scan the code from the smartphone screen.

QR code on the electronic ticket

If you like the photos, before you leave you can purchase an album with them (the print quality is excellent), as well as postcards, large framed photos and magnets. The album costs 900 ₽, magnet 100 ₽, postcard 15x20 cm 50 ₽, framed photo 600 ₽.
