The university, which was originally called Perm State Institute of Culture, was created in 1975 year. Leibniz (Germany). In October 2013, the institute was admitted to the European Association of Conservatories as an active member. Thanks to this, 14 PGIK students completed internships in Germany and China, and 7 are currently studying at the university foreign students from Syria, Cuba, Italy, Belarus, Armenia. During 2013, a new effective management structure was created at the university.     The Faculty of Arts is the youngest in the institute, it has existed since 1991. Its creation was a response to the urgent need in the professional art sector of the region for qualified personnel with higher education.
